Patrick Nordstrom 1870-1929

The Swedish designer, Patrick Nordstrom, had his own booth as an independent ceramist at the Paris exhibition in 1900. He was brought to Royal Copenhagen in 1911, by Arnold Krog, as artistic director of stoneware. Using the glaze formulations of the French ceramist, Jean Carries, Nordstrom developed his own complicated beautiful glazes. His work is an early antecedent to the biomorphism movement, and is heavily influenced by early Asian ceramics.
